SERVICE
Exercising our spiritual
gifts and abilities to meet the needs of others,
both in the
Body of Christ and the World around us.
Each of these programs
addresses a need in our local community. It is our way of providing help close
to home.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
– As a host church for IHN we provide shelter and food to homeless families for
a full week six times per year. We share a rotating schedule with other churches
in the Cincinnati area in a program managed by the Greater Cincinnati Interfaith
Hospitality Network. You can help by providing supplies and/or companionship to
the families during their time with us.
N.E.E.D.S. (North East Emergency Distribution Services)
– A cooperative group of concerned churches and civic organizations. It’s
mission is to do God’s work of caring for our neighbors by providing basic
emergency assistance for families in our area.
Litter Gitters
– We have adopted a stretch of Kemper Road, west of State Route 42.
Periodically, we get together to “git’ the litter” and keep that part of the road free
of trash.
Tending His Flock
– Provides a full box of designated food items or a laundry basket of cleaning
items to needy families through IHN, the Hispanic Ministry or as
brought to our attention. Sign up on the last Sunday of each month and return
boxes of food or baskets of cleaning items on the 2nd Sunday of each
month.
Thanksgiving Baskets
– We collect all the makings for a full Thanksgiving Dinner, including pumpkin
pies and distribute them to needy families as designated by the Sharonville
Health Department, the Hispanic Ministry or others known to SUMC.
Christmas Gift & Mitten Tree
– First you can play Saint Nicholas by taking a gift tag and purchasing items
needed by families served by the Interfaith Hospitality Network, the Emanuel
Center in Over-the-Rhine, or the Hispanic Ministry. Then, the tree is
decorated with new winter hats and mittens for those in need.
Operation
Christmas Child
– Donate a shoe box filled with necessities and the small things a child’s
imagination desires to send the love that a child’s heart longs for! A program
of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse organization, we can share our blessings
with children all over the world, whether living in a war zone or fighting a
battle against hunger and want.
Valley Interfaith
Food & Clothing Center - A
volunteer organization in the upper Millcreek Valley, dedicated to helping the
less fortunate in that thirteen-community area meet short term emergency
needs for food, clothing, and other needed services. Look for monthly "Mana
Needs" listed in the church newsletter and leave needed items at the Ministry
Link Board.

opportunities. We also provide information about special mission projects of the
District, the Annual Conference and denomination.
Meeting Time: First
Tuesday of the month @ 7:00pm.
Mission Teams
Since 1998, our Haiti
Mission Team has traveled each January to Port au Prince, to do short term
mission projects. We have helped construct a medical center, an orphanage, a
private home, and upgraded the mission house where teams stay. Haiti is the
poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, kept down for centuries in part
because of spiritual bondage to voodoo. Christianity has had a meaningful
impact on the people and recently on the government, such that there is real
hope for the future for the first time in generations. Join us in spreading the
gospel of Jesus to these wonderful people.
Our Youth Mission Team
travels to a location each June for a
one-week project where they
provide relief to communities. The youth bond with each other and learn to
worship the Lord in a whole new way as
they serve others and provide friendship to those who sorely need to see Jesus'
love firsthand.
