Children don't often get the opportunity to go out into the mission field, but children can make a difference. We currently support Heifer International (www.heifer.org) in their effort to move families toward self-reliance. The Heifer Project has programs that provide more than 25 different kinds of food and income-producing animals in dozens of countries on five continents.

Each Sunday morning in children's Sunday school and Children's Worship, we collect an offering. Our projects vary by season. This summer, we are collecting for Seedlings. Trees are the largest and longest living of all plants. Heifer distributes fast-growing Leucaena seedlings to families and tended well, each will produce a tree that provides an ongoing source of seeds that can be germinated to plant for more trees or to share with others.

Children can track our progress and watch for updates on our bulletin board in the upstairs hallway. Each quarter, leaders share "Moments for Missions" in class, giving the kids a chance to learn about our various projects and how specific families benefit from our offerings.

We occasionally will offer a special mission opportunity as well. In the past we have donated for back-to-school supplies and flood and hurricane relief. Annually we participate in Operation Christmas Child, through Samaritan's Purse.
